Castillo Variety

The Castillo variety is a relatively new Arabica coffee breed developed in Colombia, specifically designed to resist coffee diseases such as coffee leaf rust (Hemileia vastatrix). This disease has caused significant damage to coffee crops in many regions, including Colombia. Castillo was created by Colombia's National Coffee Research Center (Cenicafé) as part of a breeding program aimed at improving both the quality and resilience of Colombian coffee.
