The AeroPress looks a bit like a large syringe, but don't let that put you off — it's one of the easiest and most forgiving ways to brew great coffee at home. It makes a smooth, clean, and rich cup in just a couple of minutes, and it's small enough to take with you anywhere. If you've never tried it, you're in for a pleasant surprise.
How to Make It:
You'll need: 2 tablespoons / 17g of ground coffee | ¾ cup / 220ml of hot water (around 185–195°F / 85–90°C — just let your kettle sit for 1 minute after boiling)
- Place a small round paper filter into the black cap of the AeroPress and rinse it with a splash of hot water. Screw the cap onto the bottom of the chamber.
- Stand the AeroPress on top of your mug and add your ground coffee.
- Fill the chamber with hot water up to the number 2 or 3 marked on the side — that's about ¾ cup / 220ml. Give it a gentle stir for about 10 seconds.
- Place the plunger on top and push it down gently and slowly over about 30 seconds.
- Once you hear a soft hissing sound, stop pressing — your coffee is ready.
- Add a splash more hot water if you prefer a lighter cup, or enjoy it as is.
Tip: The AeroPress is very forgiving — there's no perfect way to use it. Don't be afraid to experiment with how much coffee you add or how long you wait before pressing.
